My name is Matthew Stollmeyer, I attend The University of Toronto Mississauga and am double majoring in CCIT and Economics. I developed a passion (some might say obsession) for skateboarding in a country which had (and I use this word loosely, I should probably say "has") about as much appreciation for the sport as you have for 8am telemarketers. Along with an old skate buddy, I started the Trinidad National Organization of Skateboarding (logo pictured top left). My love for skateboarding sparked my fascination with media art, and thus I began editing videos.
Below are some of my favourite projects which I starred in and edited singlehandedly (with the exception of the DC Redux video, which I did alongside Dimitri Tcherbadji)
I edited and filmed most of this video over christmas 2010 in Trinidad. I'd be amazed if you understood the dialogue at the start. We skate in this abandoned ole warehouse, pretty grimy. I didn't do any colour correction or fancy text, I spent all the time on slow motions and perfect sequencing, matching beats with tricks etc. The last half was unintentional, until I got started, then it grew into something I love.
Like flash animation? And super slow motion? And mediocre(ish) skateboarding? This video is by me and some buddies, for you. It was for a skate video contest, hence the corny interview.
I edited this video as part of my UTM Residence job. One word: EPIC. And yes, that is indeed a girl, in a shower, with a sandwich.
